First created for accommodation as an art project in 2004, owner Denis Oudendijk has different models ready for use and is currently working on additional locations in central Amsterdam and Nantes, France.



Moored in F.A.S.T. (Free Architecture Surf Terrain) – a unique and artistic surfers village at the boulevard of Scheveningen near The Hague, Netherlands, your room is a bright orange survival pod made from travelling oil rig survival capsules. Originally built in 1972 they are 4.25 metres in diameter and unaltered apart from the addition of a lock on the outside and an ‘emergency’ chemical toilet inside. While not everyone’s luxury choice, each pod provides cosy protection from the elements for up to three occupants.

Motorcycle Made From Lobster Shells

This motorcycle made from lobster shells was created by Taiwanese chef and food carving artist Huang Mingbo at a seminar on cooking art in Fuzhou, southeast China’s Fujian province. We’ve seen motorcycle sculptures made from some unusual materials, but we can honestly say this is the first time we’ve seen one made from a crustacean.

2011 MTV Video Music Awards Performances: A Tribute to Amy Winehouse

THE VMAs ARE BACK!!! The 2011 MTV Video Music Awards aired live Sunday, Aug. 28 at 9 p.m. ET on MTV following the Selena Gomez-hosted pre-show at 8. The MTV Video Music Awards marks its 27th year this time around. Lady Gaga danced straight across the cosmos in her hyperactive, overstuffed clip for “Born This Way.”

A cast of pop stars will pay homage to both the recently deceased Amy Winehouse and the recently resurgent Britney Spears. The two are among the most important female artists of the past decade, and represent the two very different versions of MTV.

Tony Bennett, whose duet with Winehouse that appears on his upcoming "Duets II" album and is the last recording she made before her death, will introduce the tribute. MTV and Bennett have released a statement detailing that the tribute would feature a debut video of Bennett's and Winehouse's recording session at the Abbey Road Studios in London.

Sofia Coppola and Thomas Mars Wedding

Sofia Coppola, the writer-director, looked every inch the stunning bride as she left her Italian wedding ceremony with her husband Phoenix rocker Thomas Mars today. Sofia Coppola and Thomas Mars were married in Bernalda, Italy.

Sofia Coppola became the third woman (and the first American woman) to be nominated for an Academy Award for Directing, for Lost in Translation in 2003. According to the sources, this was not big ceremony like ahigh-profile celebrities.

There were about eighty guests who attended the ceremony. 40-years old bride Sofia Coppola wore a shear lavender tulle dress, custom-designed by Azzedine Alaïa for the civil nuptials.

Sofia was escorted down the aisle by her father, Francis Ford Coppola. Mayor Leonardo Chiruzzi who performed the ceremony, told The Associated Press afterwards, ”Everything went well. It was simple, calm, in the garden.”

Michael Hogan reviews Let's Kill Hitler, the first episode of the new run of BBC One's sci-fi drama Doctor Who. Doctor Who is a British science fiction television programme produced by the BBC. Doctor Who (BBC One) was back and what a whiz-bang, bells-and-whistles return it was.

Entitled Let’s Kill Hitler, the episode opened with the Tardis getting hijacked and the Doctor being ordered to fly to 1938 Berlin, so the Führer could be eliminated. Many people would assume that the hero of Doctor Who is the time-traveling main character, played by the rakishly British Matt Smith.

But it's not so. The real stand-out hero of the new series is the steadfast (and studly) Rory Williams. Doctor Who star Matt Smith has revealed he struggles to find other roles that measure up to playing the Time Lord.

The 28-year-old actor has been playing the 11th Doctor Who for two years and insists he has no plans to step down, as he hasn't seen any other role he'd rather play.

Matt said: "It's so funny, I read other scripts and I just go, 'Not as good as Doctor Who!'
